Dear Mr Owen Stewart, Following my assessment earlier today. I would like to state that the appointment was well organised & completed in 2 hours. My concern is that because my blood sugar level was high at 20 I need an interim retest to get it below 15 to meet some nursing protocol! Having spoken to you, you suggested that the blood sugar level does not matter for having the cataract operation? Can you please look into this for me and, hopefully, confirm I do not need the interim check up for my blood sugar levels & can just attend the operation on 22nd May. The admin have still to provide a date & time for the interim blood check. I ate my breakfast at 8am had my first blood check at 9am & second blood check at 10.30am. attending the appointment in its self is slightly stressful, without being told I needed a bloods check etc.... Normally I do not try to take blood sugar reading until at least three hours after eating as it affects the levels!!! So my diabetic professional tell me. If I had been informed that a blood check would be taken I would have change the time & amount I ate at breakfast - I had eaten at large breakfast to cover me for the 3hours at the checkup + 2 hours travel time! Regards, William John Hornby 91 Ridgestone Avenue, Bilton, Hull, HU11 4AJ. Tel: 01482 814120.

Response from Mr Owen Stewart

Thanks for your query - Please attend on the 22nd as planned - I will liase with the preassessment staff so no interim visit is required. Best wishes OS

I developed eye problems about a year ago and saw two eye consultants in Grimsby on a total of five occasions. Regrettably my condition deteriated and I was at my wits end until a friend recommended Mr.Stewart. I have now seen Mr.Stewart on two occasions and my condition has been sorted.I cannot speak highly enough of him.I would certainly recommend him. He also has a very nice manner and listens to what you have to say.

Mr. Stewart has been my Consultant since 2006 (though I have been a patient at the Eye Clinic since 1997). I am partially sighted with eye sight challenges since being very young. In 2008 Mr. Stewart did cataract surgery on both eyes and the results are amazing. My optician has said several times since that nobody else would have been able to give me back that amount of vision. In January this year I started with a problem in my right eye and had surgery on 12 March to remove the lens in my right eye and a vitrectomy. It took a very brave and outstanding gifted person to do the surgery due to the state of my eye. Once again Mr. Stewart performed absolute magic and the outcome nothing short of a miracle. And not only that, I have now got rid of many of the floaters which made my life such a misery following the vitreous detachment in 1997 that I feared for months for my sanity and was suicidal until my brain kind of turned the right eye off. I can't remember when I last saw colours so clearly with that eye. Thank you Mr. Stewart. And thank you for answering patiently and honestly all the many questions I had yesterday.
